MISSISSIPPI STATE FOOD SAFETY REQUIREMENT SUMMARY
Food Code Requirement: Each establishment must have at least one certified food safety manager employed full-time. Registered ServSafe Instructor and registered/approved through the state health department. Proctor is requried to inform Health department prior to administering an exam.
Class & Exam Type: Online & Classroom Training and Exams are excepted to meet Mississippi Food Code Requirement.
Certificate Renewal: Valid for 5 years and must present original certificate. Photo copies are not accepted.
Instructor Requirements: Registered ServSafe Instructor and registered/approved through the state health department. Proctor is requried to inform Health department prior to administering an exam.
Miscellaneous: It is considered conflict of interest for a supervision to administer exam to employee in Mississippi. For students wanting to take the online course and exam in Mississippi, completion of the ServSafe Manager Training Online Course, Fifth Edition is required. A Certificate of Completion will be required before a proctored exam will be administered. Reciprocity granted for ServSafe. Must retake ServSafe course for recertification.
